Custom orders
See it before we craft it.
Change the colorway, change the size, or order the dimension your room needs: the piece is made for you by the maker, and you approve it before we craft it. Custom pieces are final sale; the approval is what protects you. Shop Pay Installments are available at checkout: split your commission into interest-free payments.
The process
How customization works: four steps, no surprises
-
1You choose
Size and colorway, to your space. Our team helps you confirm the fit.
-
2You approve
We send the proposal: a rendering or material sample, stated per category. Production starts only when you say so.
-
3The maker crafts it
Your piece is made by hand. Lead times stated plainly on every piece: most take 2 to 8 weeks. Large pieces, including customized fixtures at 36 inches and above, arrive by white-glove delivery: into your room, assembled, packaging removed, $299 flat, scheduled with you by Metropolitan.

Plainly stated
Lead times and what approval covers
If a piece arrives damaged, we make it right: damage in transit is our responsibility, and it is a different thing from a change of mind. Standard colorways and sizes ship from stock with 30-day returns; the return policy carries the full rules for both paths, so this page does not restate them.
Questions
What buyers ask
Can I return a custom piece?
No: a piece made to your specification can't be restocked. What protects you instead is the approval: production doesn't begin until you've confirmed exactly what's being made. Standard stocked pieces are returnable; the return policy has the full rules.
How long will it take?
Most pieces take 2 to 8 weeks, stated plainly on each product page. If a timeline matters, tell us and we'll plan to it, or flag it early if we can't.
What exactly do I approve?
It depends on the piece: a rendering, a material sample, or both. The product page states which, and nothing is made until you've signed off.
Can I see materials first?
Yes. Samples are available for fabrics and rugs, and colorway references for beaded pieces.
My room is unusual. Can you work with it?
Usually, yes: unusual ceilings, long drops, and odd dimensions are what made-to-order is for. Send the measurements and we'll confirm feasibility up front.
